100 Black Men of the Bay Area Launch Mental Health Care Financial Assistance Program for A.A. Residents of Alameda County

One of the goals of 100 Black Men of the Bay Area is to provide mental health education, awareness, and resources to our mentees, their families, and the African-American community.

What is the problem?

Many people who access mental health services or therapy pay for it through their medical insurance, Employee Assistant Programs (EAP), or out-of-pocket. A standard therapy session usually runs $150-$250 per session. Private insurance and public benefits are, in many cases, a barrier to receiving services due to the red tape andslow/low provider compensation (Our accounts payables cycle is NET30, though payments are often received sooner). As a result, cash payments are preferred by many therapists while others do not accept medical insurance.

How can 100 Black Men of the Bay Area’s Mental Health Care Financial Assistance Program help?

100 Black Men of the Bay Area provides financial support for mental health care and therapy for people in the African-American community in Alameda County. Preference is given to our mentees and their families.*
